From Fairbanks: Arctic Circle Northern Lights Full-Day Trip

About This Experience
This is the longest and most complete Arctic Circle trip departing Fairbanks. Starting around 1:00 PM, you travel north to the Arctic Circle at 66°33' north latitude, where you get photos at the official sign and receive a 'Cross the Circle' certificate.
Along the way, the tour stops at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline — one of the world's largest pipeline systems, running more than 800 miles across the state — and at the banks of the Yukon River. A stop at Finger Mountain's high plateau offers a chance to spot moose, foxes, bears, or even lynx, plus sandwiches, sweets, and hot drinks with sweeping views of the Alaska interior.
As darkness falls, the group begins the drive back toward Fairbanks, watching the sky for the Aurora Borealis the entire way — arrival back in Fairbanks is typically around 3:00 AM.

Our guide Paul was hands down the best guide ever — his passion for Alaska and the Northern Lights is infectious, and his knowledge of history and the local landscape made the 13+ hour journey fly by.

Paul made all the difference — well-fed, well-entertained, and amazing aurora viewing, even at the Arctic Circle itself.
— April, 2025-12
Our driver and tour guide did an excellent job on a long drive. Unfortunately we didn't see the northern lights on our night, though a couple at our hotel did see them around 11pm.
